Our Services

1.     Our Scholarship Program
Our Scholarship Program partners with the Flagler County Education Foundation. Through the support of a distinguished group of volunteers, sponsors, and donors, we provide scholarships to graduating seniors from Flagler Palm Coast High School (FPCHS) and Matanzas High School.

The scholarships now award $500 or $1,000 each to our Hispanic and non-hispanic high school seniors  who compete by completing an application provided by the Flagler County Education Foundation. This application outlines the requirements, and once submitted, it is referred to our program for evaluation and selection by our committee.

At HACS, we are deeply committed to meeting the needs of our community in Flagler County.  We are proud to continue this important work, ensuring that our Hispanic and non-hispanic youth have the opportunities they deserve to pursue their educational goals and achieve success.
2.     Our Mentoring Program
Our Mentoring Program is led by Tom Witherspoon, the Mentoring Program Director, who has dedicated nearly 8 years to working with the Flagler County Education Foundation.  Tom mentors high school students from 9th grade to their senior year, meeting weekly to provide guidance and support while maintaining close communication with parents and teachers.  This program is a 4-year commitment to each student, ensuring consistent and meaningful mentorship throughout their high school journey.

The Flagler County Education Foundation ensures that all mentors undergo thorough certification and background checks, ensuring they are well-equipped to guide students from diverse backgrounds.  At HACS, we are committed to selecting the best and most qualified mentors who can build strong connections with students, providing the support, guidance, and opportunities needed to help our youth achieve their goals and succeed in life.
3.     Our Translation Program
Our Translation Program supports the Hispanic community by bridging language barriers.  We assist with translating documents and providing in-person support at appointments where language assistance is needed.  While most of our translation services are offered pro bono, there may be a small fee depending on the complexity of the work.
4.     Our Community Liaison Program
Our Community Liaison Program supports the Hispanic community, particularly those with fewer resources, by helping them connect with local and federal government agencies, charitable organizations, local businesses, and community leaders.  Our mission is to promote social justice and ensure equitable opportunities for all.  We also collaborate with other charities to organize events that address critical social issues and community needs.
5.     Conversational Spanish Training Program
This conversational Spanish class training is possible in collaboration with Flagler Technical College.  The class is eight weeks long and one day a week.  The class uses the straightforward language needed for a meaningful conversation by learning and practicing phrases you may use daily, especially when traveling.
